AinaOpen Smart Fridge
AinaOpen builds AI-powered smart fridges for public and industrial spaces. I designed the touchscreen interface end to end — from interaction structure to a component-based design system.

The product problem
The prototype worked and nobody could use it comfortably. A smart fridge is met standing up, often in a hurry, sometimes with gloves on and light glaring off the screen — and it has one surface and no second chance to explain itself.
Ownership & contribution
Three months on the contract, about a month of actual work, with a clear brief: make the existing prototype usable. I reworked the UX and UI, made all the on-screen graphics and animations, and designed for the machine's real conditions rather than a desk.

How the experience took shape.
Research
Learning from machines that already work
I studied how comparable vending and smart-fridge systems handle the same moments — selection, age verification, payment, receipt — and rebuilt the interaction on what already works for people standing at a machine.
Motion
Feedback the screen can carry
With one surface and no room for instructions, animation does the explaining: what the machine is waiting for, what it just registered, and what happens next.
Work that moved the product forward.
Designed the end-to-end touchscreen experience for the smart fridge.
Age-restricted purchase validation (K-18), contactless payment, and QR-based receipts.
Built a component-based design system, scalable across hardware installations.
